In addition to my love for research, I care deeply about promoting an inclusive research environment. As a first-gen college student, Hispanic scientist, and immigrant myself, I faced hurdles in my journey due to limited guidance, financial constraints, and lack of role models. My goal is to continue performing DEI activities in pursuit of a more diverse academic body. This is why I have a deep commitment to mentoring and exposing young people to research, and providing them opportunities to experience what it means to have a scientific career. As a research mentor, my lab will always embrace and welcome students from diverse origins, sexual orientations, genders, and backgrounds.
